Sometimes in our line of work we get to be a part of some truly remarkable, life-changing things. The Wheels for Work program is one of those things. Together with Hastings Ford, United Way of SCNE was able to provide a hard-working father with a reliable vehicle.
Without a vehicle, transportation to medical appointments, job interviews, working across town, and groceries require hours of planning and walking (no matter the weather conditions). These are all things that are easy to take for granted. Seeing this vehicle go to such a deserving person reminds us of the power of community and what it means to live united. Our communities are better when we work together to help everyone, no matter their circumstances, thrive.
United Way of SCNE programs like Bridging Forward are helping to solve critical community issues, like transportation. The goal of reducing poverty 30% by 2030 starts by helping individual families achieve financial security. It takes the support of the entire community and dedicated individuals to make this a reality.
